Dentist

Dr. Christopher Low calls Kitsilano his home, having moved to the area with his wife and family a few years ago. He was born and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, and after high school, he studied Biology at the University of Victoria where he earned a Bachelor of Science in 2003. Following undergraduate studies, Christopher’s interest in the biological sciences led him initially to pursue a career in academia, where he began working at the BC Cancer Research Centre studying prostate cancer. His time in research yielded many enjoyable years of study and the completion of a Master’s degree in Oncology from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 2010.

Later, finding a greater interest in clinical work, he continued his studies and obtained his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from UBC in 2014. He followed this with a year in general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Centre in the Bronx, New York. There he gained considerable experience in all aspects of general dentistry, including treating patients in an emergency setting.

Amazing and efficient team throughout. Found the office on a whim/gut feeling, and this review is not incentivized (nor do I often care to write reviews). I wanted my wisdom teeth out within a certain time frame and they were beyond accommodating and never pushy. Walked me through the entire procedure (to lessen my anxiety as I was sweating buckets from nerves). It lasted around half an hour for all 4 teeth (length of the podcast I was listening to). Even the numbing needles were pretty painless. I've had fillings done that were less comfortable. Drove myself home right after and had little to no swelling by day 2 of recovery. Better experience than I could have ever imagined. The receptionist, dental assistant, and Dr. Low were all able to answer my questions in a straightforward yet friendly manner. VERY transparent and beyond reasonable with prices. Waiting area is empty because there simply is no wait! Emails are answered immediately and you are seen at your exact appointment time. If you have any sort of dental anxiety where sitting in a waiting room for half an hour would just make it worse, then this place is for you. If I could tip the receptionist I would - she has truly gone above and beyond what I could ever expect.

I received dental care from Dr. Christopher Low at Arbutus Station Dental from spring 2021 until summer 2023 & was generally very satisfied with my care there. Unfortunately, in Jul 2023, I spent $812 on upper & lower retainers through Dr. Low, which were made of a thin plastic. I had originally asked to replace my Invisalign retainers & he told me these retainers would be just as strong, but the upper retainer started to break in Aug 2024. Upon requesting that it be repaired or replaced, Dr. Low's staff informed me that they couldn't repair it & because it was 1 month past the 1 year warranty, they wouldn't replace it. When I asked if I could have a copy of my dental impressions to take to my new dentist (I've since moved), they said they don't have a copy of them & that my teeth also might have moved since they were created, so I would need to pay for new impressions anyway. I found this very frustrating because 1) it seems ridiculous to pay an additional $400+ for a new retainer that is made of the same thin plastic, which will likely break again in around a year 2) if the retainers don't keep your teeth in place, why am I buying them in the 1st place? Isn't that the point of getting a retainer? If my old retainers fit my teeth, then it stands to reason that new retainers made from the same impressions would also do so. I definitely wouldn't recommend spending the money to get retainers from Dr. Christopher Low at Arbutus Station Dental.
