I had an extremely frustrating experience here that I do not think was given any remorse or consideration on my end. Long story short, I had a cleaning & exam complete - upon said examination, it was determined that I had 2 fillings. When the dentist (who I have never seen before...not my usual dentist) left the room and the hygienist finished my cleaning - during the final steps of FLOSSING, she managed to break off a chunk of my tooth. I instantly said that there was something wrong and she said it must have just been a chunk of food... Moments later, realized in fact she HAD broken off said chunk. She immediately apologized and said that they were completely booked for the remainder of the day so I would have to come back tomorrow to have this fixed, along with the other filing that I was aware of. I came in at 2pm for my appointment and told the dentist what had happened (which he clearly already knew) and he said "ya your tooth was going to fall out anyways...' Imagine my shocked to hear that, as I have had zero issues with this side of my face/teeth. I asked if this filing was going to be something that I had to pay for since it was the hygienist who broke it off. And his immediate response was 'well I am not going to do it for free... I was going to drill it off now anyways....' - sure, rude reaction first off, but secondly, that is not what I asked. Frustrated by this 'professional' response I explained that I didn't think that it was fair for me to have to pay for the full amount. He then says, 'it was not the hygienist's fault' (determine that one for yourself!!) and 'I am just an associate here so I need to speak to manager.' Ok - go get her then, as I broke down into tears because of complete frustrating and the fact that I have (at that point) been in pain for over 24 hrs.!! She comes in with a calculator and tried to explain that the 'tartar on my teeth what was 'gluing' this tooth together.....' (oh, well great to know again considering I had zero issues prior to walking through your doors yesterday....) and asks what exactly it is that I am trying to get out of this.... I explained that I don't think that I should have to fully pay for this as I have been in pain for over 24 hrs due to the hygienists lack of care on my 'already going to fall out tooth'. She was just as rude as he was and said 'well the total unpaid from your insurance is $93 for both fillings" and I said 'great, ok then your clinic will pay the 20% difference that my insurance does not cover and, therefore; I won't have to pay out of pocket.' She responded 'I don't think you understand that I can't do anything about it. It's only $93 for you to cover...' and I then said 'understood but you if its only $93, cover the $45 for the 1 filing that YOUR COMPANY IS NOT TAKING OWNERSHIP ON!!' Anyways after comment, I was so offended and there was NO WAY IN HELL I was going to let that dentist anywhere near my mouth, so I abruptly got up, grabbed my jacket, and got out of there... DO NOT RECOMMEND. This is also not my first issue with South Family Dental, so shame on me for giving them a second chance. I'll leave the bracket debacle unmentioned.
