YES – Georgian Dental® remains a ‘fee for service’ business. This means that you are responsible for payment of your treatment, before or at the time of service, and we electronically file your insurance claim on your behalf. Reimbursement is typically quick, within 72 hours and all done with electronic convenience. Dr. Tan feels this model is in the best interest of all of his patients as it does not promote a conflict of interest.
Patients who have chosen this model of care at Georgian Dental® have felt in their past, insurance-driven arrangements can potentially encounter a conflict of interest. This is because insurance-driven treatment planning practices tend to ‘maximize’ insurance coverage and perform treatment covered by their insurance companies, sometimes to the extent to which the patient may not need. Certainly, this doesn’t happen with all dental clinics.
By breaking the connection of “only doing treatment that the insurance plans cover”, Dr. Tan is able to put the health interest of his patients ahead of insurance-driven restrictions.
