I’ve been struggling with the affects of having 5 concussions in less than 4 years. I also had whiplash on the last fall.

I could find very little support for recovery. I did find a concussion service through Fraser Health after pushing for a full year on my doctor after my first concussion. There was nothing they could do to help me heal. They did help by giving me some tips on how to manage the emotions and being overwhelmed.

I started searching for a place that might help me recover. I was finally able to get the name of Canadadian Brain Performance. I phoned on a Friday and had an assessment set up for the following Tuesday (4 1/2 hours). They went through the results with me and explained everything that was happening, what was affected and how. Then they set up 8 more appointments for treatment. Keep in mind that my ability to hear and process information had been severely impaired and I would get emotional as I got overwhelmed with input. The very first day of treatment on the Thursday following the assessment I had the first treatment. I felt better than I had since the first concussion! By the time I had 3 treatments total my emotions had settled a fair bit, my ability to hear and process in a conversation had improved significantly! I’m amazed. Four years of suffering and the improvement is significant. I was at a place where I couldn’t socialize, was feeling very alone and scared I wouldn’t ever improve.

After 4 treatments I’ve been able to go outside, drive and visit with people for more than 15 minutes without crying. I can move well in comparison to my first visit and my thinking is getting clearer.

The receptionists out front are very friendly and helpful. Nice smiles, friendly and a caring attitude.

Dr Ash is a friendly, caring individual that wants to help and support healing. He is incredibly knowledgeable and understands what he’s doing. He has assembled a team of knowledgeable, caring and friendly people that have the same attitude about helping people to recover from whatever they’ve come for.

The only thing that may be challenging is that MSP and my extended health do not cover these services. It’s a crime really but, the rates are reasonable considering quick outcomes.

As you can see from my heart felt review that I’m grateful for their help!

It was an absolute privilege to have been under the care of Dr. Ash and his team of professionals. I'm one month post week-long intensive at their Vancouver centre and I can't believe the difference. As a woman in her sixties with chronic bacterial infection and multiple concussions since childhood, both physical and mental function had begun to noticeably decline. One-month post intensive and my overall immune system is definitely stronger. I feel clearer and less disoriented. My neck is holding posture much better than it was, with way fewer headaches or instances of misalignment. Balance and memory are improved beyond anything I thought could be possible. I continue with prescribed exercises at home and look forward to all that is now possible in this whole new world of recovery. Thank you, Dr. Ash. I'm deeply grateful to you and your team. We are so fortunate to have this level of expertise and experience in Canada.

I know what it feels like to have a brain injury and be feeling scared, anxious, severe vertigo and not knowing when or if it will ever get better. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to be treated by Dr. Ash and his staff. Trying to find the right doctor when you are in a vulnerable state causes so much anxiety and fear and that was all put to rest when I entered the office. Literally the entire staff couldn’t have been more supportive, honest and encouraging. Dr. Ash has a calm demeanour about him that puts you at ease and allows you to focus on your healing. His expertise is unmatched and I would not trust anyone else with helping me heal. He was honest with his assessment, incredibly accurate with length of recovery and his knowledge of my injury. You don’t find that very often and it was a breath of fresh air. Couldn’t recommend this practice more!!
