We know your website isn't a social network site, but if you have a website for your business, there are a few things that you can learn from social networks:

1. What keeps people coming back to the same social sites?

Social networks have many different aspects to get recurring traffic; although most of these techniques are not applicable to your website, it is a good idea to look for certain trends which help retain visitors and encourage them to view more pages. For example, if you notice that the testimonials section on your website is attracting more traffic, you may want to expand that section of your website.

2. Keep an eye out for things which engage your visitors.

Your website visitors probably don't interact with each other, but if they are visiting your website, they are engaging with you. A good idea is to track where viewers go before they submit their requests, comments or feedback; if you know what's catching the eye of your visitors and what isn't, you will be able to understand your website in the eyes of your visitors much better.

3. Consider having virtual rewards.

There's an increasing demand for virtual goods in this day and age; try to think outside the box and come up with creative virtual ways to monetize your website. Remember to test out what works and what doesn't!

4. Learn where your visitors come from, and expand on that particular area.

For example, if you notice that a lot of your visitors are coming via emails, try adding referral links on your website so that your customers can refer you to their friends or family easier.

In conclusion, there are many things you can learn from social networks; they are, after all, the frontrunners in the game of grabbing attention and interest. You just have to get creative and apply what they are doing to your own business and website!
